I was just reading a description for a bareback video, and the studio casually claimed that the performers had worked together before, back in the “Condom Porn Era.”

With major studios on board, it’s obvious that this is the direction the market is going. Still, it’s interesting to think of “condom porn” as a bygone era. I remember when video rentals were clearly marked as being from the “pre-condom” era or put in a special section of the gay adult section.

God, that was exciting. Trying not to be embarrassed walking into the adult section of a video store. But once I was in there, I didn’t care if the other people in there saw me renting gay porn. I figured we were all in the same shame boat together.

Eventually, I got to a place where I held my head high, but it never quit being exciting. Just browsing pornographic VHS tapes in front of other people, seeing what they were renting and knowing they could read the box covers in my hands, was a major turn-on.

I learned early on to wear tight briefs and dark jeans, ’cause you know I was leaving that store hard and leaking…
